Why pray?
We believe the greatest blessing a person can have is to know God. We therefore encourage Christians to bless their neighborhoods and cities to come to know the Father, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent. We see these prayer walks as channels being dug in our land in preparation to receive the Word (John 17:3) whilst Christians discover the joy of abiding in God's heart and of answered prayer (John 15:7,11).

Why walk?
While on earth, Jesus walked and Jesus prayed. Christians have for centuries followed in the footsteps of Jesus, whether spontaneously or encouraged by their traditions. As we walk and pray we approach God in intercessory prayer on behalf of our neighborhood, city or country.
Walking and praying allows us to connect to our environment and to come to know it more intimately as we engage our physical and spiritual senses while praying. Praying while we are physically present enriches our contextual understanding and opens our eyes and hearts to God's love for those around us.
Why walk in a specific area?
"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14) The Message paraphrase says "the Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood". Jesus was born in Bethlehem and grew up in Nazareth. During his three years of ministry, He walked and ministered in Galilee, Decapolis, Samaria, Phoenicia, Judea, Caesarea, Shechem and Jericho. Even though John 3:16 says that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son", Jesus incarnate did not travel all over the world. Matthew 9:35-36 describes how He went through all the towns and villages and how he was moved with compassion for the people who lived in those towns and villages.
We also accept the limitations of being in the flesh and therefore invite participants to walk and pray starting in their own neighborhoods moving outwards. This allows us to be physically present, to connect with our context in prayer and in engagement. We are like cups that overflow because we are limited containers, yet the blessing spreads to other neighborhoods, cities and regions.

Why join a campaign?
Walk'nPray promotes and encourages a culture of prayer amongst all Christians. Paul encouraged us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "pray without ceasing". Even though you can use Walk'nPray App to journal your individual walks, at any place and time. We encourage to create and join campaigns that cover a specific area over a set period of time. There is power in unified prayer (Matthew 18:20).
Campaigns can be set on any date and duration, but we see additional value in aligning with biblical feasts and the historic church calendar. The first Walk'nPray was launched in Geneva 2019 from Resurrection to Ascension - a 40 day period. The following year we extended the campaign by 10 days to Pentecost.
Why a smartphone application?
Walk'nPray did not invent prayer walking. We simply use technology to renew and sustain purposeful prayer by creating a visible map of where people have been praying.
During a Walk'nPray campaign, the application will show each participant that other Christians are praying and where they are praying. As the days pass, the maps fill up with streets being prayed through, becoming a source of great encouragement to those who pray.
The application also allows Christians who may never have met, to discover that they pray from the same heart and possibly even in the same neighborhood, city or region.
